The Women’s Council of Realtors Northwest Indiana kicked off the Spring with a fashion show. They partnered with local fashion boutiques to raise money for St. Jude House.
To briefly summarize, St. Jude House in Crown Point, Indiana serves victims impacted by domestic violence. The non-profit company provides resources, support and, most importantly, shelter to victims and their dependents.
I first heard about the event after seeing Women’s Council president, Angie Popovich, post about the upcoming event on social media. Angie connects with her followers on social media by sharing posts, stories and reels that showcase her true character, business and social agenda.
Secondly, during a recent headshot session with Lauren Zurbriggen, Director of Development for St. Jude, the event came up again in conversation. Lauren was excited to share about the upcoming event and the generosity of the Women’s Council. It was at that point that I knew I wanted to be a part of this special event.
Fast forward to the event, mind you I’m skipping endless hours of planning and organizing that was done by the Women’s Council which was evident in the outcome of the event. You instantly notice the attention to detail to make this event as glamorous as the guests in attendance. Tables adorned with feathers for texture, gift bags from event sponsor, Harris Kouklakis, and dim lighting set the ambiance. Selah Brooks donated his services with entertainment and fun with his business Phenom Photo Booth. The 2000’s inspired song list sang to the hearts of the well-established realtors, finance professionals and other business owners who dedicated their evening to raising money for St. Jude.
Networking among professionals commenced the evening as the cash bar poured out drinks by request. There were many opportunities for guests to contribute towards helping victims.
This included the light-hearted gaming at the separate Loteria and Bingo tables and
50/50 raffle. A large purchase of 500 raffle tickets was a highlight of the giving that evening. The winning ticket, to no one’s surprise, was in the 500 tic
ket mix. The winner generously donated back his winning portion of the 50/50 pot to St. Jude House
Local boutiques included: Dear Dani, Simply Daisy, Six Cypress Boutique, MJ Boutique, Katie Rose Boutique, Maurice’s, Beyond Pink, Dunhill and Chippopomatus. They each donated their beautiful, stylish and trendy clothing to the cause. Models volunteered their time to strut their stuff down the runway in the latest designs.
The Women’s Council of Realtors Northwest Indiana proudly raised $19,635 in donations for St. Jude. They couldn’t have done it without all of the wonderful people who generously donated time and money to make this event a very successful one!
To conclude, giving to a good cause like St. Jude can be fun, creative and successful all at once and the Women’s Council of Realtors Northwest Indiana shows us just how to do it!
